my european adventure: luxe style

I’ve mentioned that I’ve been incredibly taken with the intricate details of Paris, but that’s not even taking in the glitz and glam style of the country! Every door I walk through or corner I turn leaves me in awe of how ornate and luxe every ceiling, trim and accessory looks. From picturesque, hand painted walls and ceilings, to gold detailing on chandeliers and coat racks, to the flakes of gold leaf on individual pieces of chocolate, to an over sized statue of Mary completely emblazoned in gold that looks over Avignon. But the pièce de résistance has to be Le Train Bleu Restaurant at Gare de Lyon. Maybe I just didn’t expect such a high class establishment in a train station, but every inch of this place was immaculate. And most of the design was put into the ceiling, commonly an untouched part of the home decor. If you stand in the center of the restaurant and look up, this is the painting you'll see on the ceiling. I love how it's framed by the ornate carvings to seem as if the painted figures are looking down at the customers, making us the spectacle. Do you use ornate or luxe accessories in your home decor?
