Interior: Modern classic home

Amir and Laura Neyestani built their home just over a year and a half ago, in keeping with the character of Vancouver's eclectic Kitsilano locale. "We wanted a home that reflected the architecture of the neigbourhood, which is somewhat Arts and Crafts in style, but with a modern, open-plan interior," says Amir. But when it came time to dress the space, they went back to their own Yaletown neighbourhood and a favourite boutique -- The Cross. Liking everything they saw, they ultimately hired one of the shop's lead designers, Peter Wilds, to help merge their two distinct styles.

Family room Connecting to an open kitchen, the cheerful space is a hangout for Laura Neyestani and daughters Chloe, 3, and six-month-old Charlotte. The chocolate leather sofa is one of only two items the couple brought from their former home.
