Airbnb Introduces Icons: Extraordinary Experiences For Your Next Trip

In a move that promises to redefine travel, Airbnb has unveiled Icons—a revolutionary category of extraordinary experiences hosted by some of the most iconic names in music, film, television, art, sports and beyond. This groundbreaking initiative allows travellers to step into worlds previously only accessible through the wonders of film and TV, offering a unique blend of fantasy and reality.
“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination—until now,” says Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb. “As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”
The inaugural lineup of Icons includes 11 captivating experiences, each designed to immerse guests in a one-of-a-kind adventure:
1. Drift off in the Up house: Spend a night inside the iconic floating house from Disney and Pixar’s beloved film "Up." Nestled amidst the picturesque red rocks of Abiquiu, New Mexico, this detailed re-creation of Carl’s home features over 8,000 balloons, offering a whimsical escape.
2. Spend the night in the Ferrari Museum: Experience the thrill of racing with a stay at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy. Guests will sleep on a bed crafted from the same leather as Ferrari seats, enjoy a lap with Scuderia Ferrari ambassador driver Marc Gené and receive VIP access to Emilia-Romagna’s premier race.
3. Step into X-Men ’97: Live like the X-Men in a 2D animated re-creation of Marvel Animation’s X-Mansion in Westchester, New York. From discovering mutant abilities to training in the Danger Room, this experience promises an unforgettable superhero adventure.
4. Go VIP with Kevin Hart: Join comedian Kevin Hart for an exclusive evening at his members-only Coramino Live Lounge. Guests will enjoy a tequila tasting, live stand-up comedy and A-list company in this secret speakeasy experience.
5. Wake up in the Musée d’Orsay: Stay in the iconic clock room of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, transformed into a luxurious bedroom by renowned designer Mathieu Lehanneur. Plus, you’ll witness the historic Olympic Games Opening Ceremony from the terrace overlooking the River Seine.
6. Join a living room session with Doja Cat: Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat invites guests to an intimate living room performance featuring her favourite songs and tracks from her latest album, providing an opportunity to connect with the music in a personal setting.
7. Stay in Prince’s Purple Rain house: Explore the Minneapolis home featured in Prince’s legendary film "Purple Rain," now available to the public for the first time. You are also privy to an exclusive studio session featuring rare and special tracks from Prince’s extensive catalogue.
8. Game with Khaby Lame: TikTok sensation Khaby Lame hosts an epic overnight gaming experience in his hometown of Milan, Italy. Guests will stay in a custom-designed gaming loft, learning from Khaby and facing off in a Fortnite Battle Royale.
9. Go on tour with Feid: Join reggaeton superstar Feid on his FERXXOCALIPSIS World Tour for an entire week, gaining behind-the-scenes access to rehearsals, tour bus rides and backstage moments at every show.
10. Live like Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor: Experience the glamour of Bollywood with actress Janhvi Kapoor, who opens the doors to her family’s legendary home in Chennai, India. Guests will learn Bollywood beauty secrets and savour Janhvi’s favourite southern Indian dishes during this exclusive overnight stay.
11. Make core memories with Inside Out 2: In anticipation of Disney and Pixar’s "Inside Out 2," you are invited to Headquarters, the control centre of Riley’s emotions, for an overnight stay hosted by Joy. Witness the emotions in action and help maintain balance in this vibrant world of imagination.
Icons are prominently featured on Airbnb’s homepage, with a countdown indicating the time until each experience goes live. Most Icons are offered free of charge, with prices for paid experiences capped at under $100 USD per guest. Interested travellers can request to book through the Airbnb app, with selected guests receiving digital golden tickets for their chosen experience.
