This shade may not be the most popular, but it still deserves its moment!

When you’re staring at a wall of paint chips, there may be hues that your eyes glaze over, or that leave you wondering, “Who would pick that?” But popularity doesn’t define beauty.

Sherwin-Williams recently announced that its loneliest colour of the year is Radiant Lilac (SW 0074). While striking and vibrant, this mauve-violet hue isn’t at the top of many designers’  lists.

“By exploring overlooked hues, we challenge conformity, celebrate individuality, and contribute to a more exciting visual culture,” says Sue Wadden, director of colour marketing at Sherwin-Williams.

Try out this unconventional shade as an accent wall, on cabinets, or for unexpected colour drenching. It can be paired with warm whites and greys, and softly complements bolder reds and golds.

Radiant Lilac follows last year’s winner, Kingdom Gold (SW 6698). Energetic and dynamic, this golden-mustard hue is a surprisingly warm shade.
