5 Design Ideas We're Loving This Month
November is all about turning your home into a warm and cozy space that helps ease the transition from beautiful fall weather to colder, damp days.
It's all about embracing plush materials, adding texture, and creating multiple sitting areas for reading, watching TV, or phone calls with friends and family.
1. Bring the outdoors in
Now that we're spending more time inside, we don't want you to forget about the wonderful world out there. Use nature-inspired hues and textures to create a sense of earthy calm. Greens, browns, and navy blues are some of our favourite choices.
2. It's all about lighting
With days growing darker earlier, you'll want to make sure your home is full of warm light that will make you feel happy at home, not depressed. The best way to do this is by using multiple sources. Try floor lamps, table lamps, and sconces—the more, the better! Keep the wattage low and the hue skewing warm instead of cool.
3. Level up your bathroom
There's nothing worse than getting out of the shower or bath and ending up with goosebumps. Although we know not everyone can have heated floors and towel racks, a few simple bathroom upgrades make all the difference during this time of year. Add a towel warmer beside your shower, invest in a filtered shower head, and buy yourself a new shower curtain and bath mat (when was the last tie you replaced yours?!). If you're feeling really indulgent, buy an autumn-scented soap and candle.
4. Chill out
Since you're going to be spending more time inside your home this season, it's time to create a space where you'll just want to hang—that isn't in front of a screen! Create a reading nook or a listening lounge with soft materials and moody paint colours. You'll want to cozy up and never leave.
5. Add texture
Velvet, faux fur, knits, and linens. Add layers of different fabrics is your living room and bedroom, and you'll instantly feel the difference. Having different textures in one space adds depth and warmth.
