An Open-Concept Home Gets A Space-Saving Transformation

Making the most of compact rooms requires smart planning and a little creativity.

This home, decorated in a modern and organic style by Kelly-Anne Racine of Élévation Studio Design, boasts a mix of natural materials, clean lines, and custom details to create a welcoming space that prioritizes storage.

1. Space-saving nook

When compared to a table surrounded by single chairs, this modern bench allows the table to sit closer to the wall, pre- serving precious space for foot traffic. Two side cabinets and under-seat storage ensure that no space is wasted.

2. Smart Shelving

Installing shelves in front of the window? A bold choice—but a rewarding one! This typically unused wall space now provides aesthetic storage. Shelves like these look beautiful adorned with plants, your favourite dishware or other decorative items, like glass decanters, that allow the light to shine through.

3. Corner Cabinet

Because of its location, the cabinetry or shelving in the far corner of the kitchen can be under-utilised, but not in this one. This small nook is now a daily morning destination, with its vertical design displaying a high-end coffee machine, mugs, and other accessories.

4. Table Talk

This coffee table has two layers for extra storage. Whether it’s a small basket of toys, stacks of your favourite reads or a box to store remotes and controllers, the open shelf maximizes the area under the top.

5. Sleek Shower

A walk-in shower complete with glass wall and doorless design creates a minimalist configuration that brings light to the space. The built- in wall niche makes room for shower essentials without the need to install a separate caddy.
