Before & After: A Minimalist Kitchen That Highlights Natural Finishes
See how this once outdated kitchen was transformed into a timeless and minimalist space.
Frozen in time, this kitchen was the most outdated room in the house. A total redesign was in order to fast-forward it to the present. The minimalist aesthetic, featuring a mix of natural materials, is anything but sterile.

Favourite features
- All of the appliances, including the fridge, dishwasher and microwave, have been integrated into the oak cabinetry for an uncluttered look.
- Artisanal touches abound, from the handmade zellige tiles to the sculptural terracotta pendants coated in Tadelakt (a waterproof lime-based plaster).
- Forgoing upper cabinets along the window wall lends a lighter, more open feel that belies the relatively low ceiling, while the large island provides ample storage and the open shelves offer display space.
- The mix of natural materials, such as the honed-marble countertop and the rattan inserts on the cabinet doors, creates a warm and inviting space.
