9 Breakfast Nooks We're Dreaming Of Waking Up To
These cozy kitchen nooks are made for early mornings, weekend brunches, and family laughs.
Breakfast nooks are a quintessential home-y spot. Essentially mini dining rooms, they're often warm and comfortable spots bathed in natural light. Many of our favourites feature practical yet stylish banquettes and materials.

1. Soothing hues

Sage green, clever millwork solutions, and delightful curves make this bright nook a relaxing haven.
2. Cozy farmhouse

“This corner dining space is tucked beneath a sloped ceiling, so it feels really intimate,” says designer Amanda Richardson. In addition to contemporary chairs, it has a banquette. Rough-hewn edges on the table give the space an approachable look. So does the naturalistic chandelier.
3. colourful and modern

A yellow breakfast nook was this Calgary homeowner's one design request! The designers dialed up the sunshiny hue with a custom-made banquette upholstered in vegan-friendly cotton velvet. A tulip-base table works nicely with the built-in seating, and its marble top references the waterfall island.
4. Florals for days

“I felt like I was going a bit safe with all the whites and linens, so I chose a velvety coral pink,” says designer Samantha Pynn of her upholstered banquette. “It’s a gorgeous colour and I love how the floral artwork softens it a bit.”
5. Cottage nook

In this Quebec cottage, two long benches are drawn up to a Swedish table that has curved ends, which makes accommodating extra guests easy. “The vintage pendant light throws a pool of light over the table that is so cinematic,” says designer Darina Bellini. “It’s as if everything fades to the background and you’re just with friends sharing supper.”
6. Charming lake views

This nook is in the 1,000-square-foot Pointe au Baril cottage, which sits behind the main one. An antique pendant light illuminates new bench seating that’s softened with cushions. It mingles nicely with an old table and folding chairs that designer Madison Krofchick refreshed with black paint.
7. Family-friendly style

At the roomy banquette in the cozy breakfast nook, designer Elyssa Maldoff paired a wipeable seat cushion with a modern back cushion that’s stain resistant. “Don’t be shy about using fabrics in eating areas,” she says. “There are so many carefree options these days."
8. English elegance

An oak breakfast table custom-made in England was paired with bentwood chairs finished in a rosy tone pulled from the drapes for a punch of colour. Leatherette seats wipe down nicely after meals with youngsters.

A rich chocolate banquette in this clean white kitchen makes the nook pop.
