5 Design Lessons You Can Learn From These Small Living Rooms
Small doesn’t have to mean cramped.
Whether you live in a condo, townhouse, or mansion, some living rooms are just small. But with a few simple tricks, you can deceive your own eyes.
We’re looking to some of our all-time favourite living room designs for inspiration on making a compact room look bigger (and function better) than you can believe.

If your living room is in an open-concept area, utilize that surrounding space to your advantage. Up your conversational nooks with seating facing each other, and extend rugs into overlapping spaces.
2. Incorporate furniture with curves

3. Oversized sectionals

Oversized furniture might seem counterintuitive in a small space, but sticking to one or two larger items often looks more streamlined than a mix of smaller pieces. To make your room look even bigger, be sure to place your couch about a foot from the wall.
4. Use windows to your advantage

Light is a superhero when it comes to brightening a room. Drawing attention to a window—whether its size or window treatments—accentuates the light in a space.
5. Try minimalist and tonal hues
