“The arches in this home are such an important part of its history, so we repeated their curves in statement pieces, such as the giant metal pendants and slipcovered counter stools,” says designer Lauren Woods. Classic white millwork is paired with Valentino marble surfaces. “I love how it has quiet undertones of almost blue.”

Barn Conversion

“This corner dining space is tucked beneath a sloped ceiling, so it feels really intimate,” says designer Amanda Richardson. In addition to contemporary chairs, it has a banquette. “You can play cards or sit around the dining table talking for hours.” Rough-hewn edges on the table give the space an approachable look. So does the naturalistic chandelier.

The front hall establishes the cottage’s convivial tone. “The mix of rich oak with white paint, especially on the staircase, which is purposely not all white, provides contrast so the space feels light and airy, but still warm at the same time,” says designer Michele Thompson.
